A Clear Overview, but Not a Good Fit for Me

This book gives a clear, concise overview of the story of the New Testament, and I especially appreciated its reminder that we shouldn't set the biblical authors against one another. The same Holy Spirit inspired both the Gospels and the Epistles, so Jesus, Paul, Peter, James, and Jude speak with one voice. However, the book wasn't a good fit for me. Throughout, the author presents several theological conclusions with a great deal of certainty, often without acknowledging that faithful Christians understand some passages differently. That made the overview feel unbalanced from my perspective. I also found the tone more declarative than conversational. I personally prefer books that invite readers to consider the biblical text alongside the author. Well organized, but it didn't resonate with me.
