"My experience confirms that if I fail to attack my week with theologically informed planning, my week attacks me with an onslaught of the urgent. I end up devoting more time to the urgent than the important. At the end of the week there is a low-grade guilt and dissatisfaction in my soul, because I've neglected to do the truly important stuff. I want to have as few weeks like this as possible in whatever time remains for me to serve the Savior. I'm thinking you do as well." - C. J. Mahaney

The material in this booklet was originally published on C. J. Mahaney’s blog in 2008 and 2009. A paperback edition of the blog series was printed for attendees of the Sovereign Grace Ministries Pastors Conference in 2010.

Concise treatment of Productivity

I was first introduced to this resource before it was published, as it was required reading for school LAST summer. I returned to it again this summer as I enter a different season with a different schedule, as I return home after freshman year of college. But what makes this concise resource excellent is that it speaks to a variety of seasons of life-whether you are a college age student like myself, busy with homework, reading, probably a minimum wage job and plenty of social life-or a mother with a variety of aged children, running errands and carpooling kids to activities during the week-or a father seeking to steward his personal time, time with family, at work, and with the Lord-or any number of other stages of life with its business-this resource speaks to you. CJ encourages us to identify our roles, make corresponding goals, and plan our schedule appropriately. I was convicted that simply being busy doesn’t mean we are being productive or particularly glorifying God.

Timothy

Great, Short, Practical

I've given this out to numerous people in my church and its part of our leader training curriculum. It's not a broad theology of productivity but rather an on-the-ground tactical guide to getting done what God has set in front of you. The roles and goals section is so key.
