Let the truth of the cross lead you to dance!

“Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.”

When was the last time you felt real gospel joy? Weighed down by guilt, shame and busyness, many of us are just getting through each day. Awareness of our lack of joy only adds to our sense of failure. We fear we’re living under the Father’s scowl. But it doesn’t have to be this way!

Natalie Brand challenges our performance-based theology with the beauty and brilliance of Christ’s work at Calvary. Exposing those things that kill our joy, Natalie drives the liberating truth of the cross into our hopeless. She reminds weary women that, clothed in Jesus’ righteousness and loved by the Father, we can experience tangible and life-changing joy.

Why you'll love  From Crimson to White:

  1. Understandable deep theology: Natalie relates important concepts to real life
  2. Perceptive: it pinpoints and unpacks a real struggle Christians often have
  3. Gospel focused: the entire book rests on and integrates the truth of the cross

“If you haven't danced in your kitchen in the past three weeks out of joy for gospel salvation, read the opening chapter.” - Jonathan Carswell, President of 10ofthose

"What higher endorsement can I give than this book made me love my Savior more? With clarity, warmth, and winsome insight, Natalie Brand unpacks the gospel bliss found at the cross, where Jesus "hand washes" our crimson-stained sin and clothes us in the purity of his own righteousness. Richly theological yet wonderfully accessible, this book is a joy to savor from start to finish. It may even make you dance in your kitchen in gratitude and delight!"

- Jenny Manley, Pastor's wife; Author of The Good Portion: Christ podcast; Co-host of Priscilla Talk

"For those who fear and those who doubt, for those weighed down by sin and shame, From Crimson to White lifts your guilty gaze to the one who sets you free, purifies your soul, and renews your hope. Come look with fresh wonder at the one who gives you life everlasting and eternal joy."

- Lydia Brownback, Author, Flourish Bible Studies

"Natalie Brand knows that law doesn’t change people; grace does. She understands that endlessly dwelling on all we should be doing as believers (and how far we still have to go in our journey toward Christ-likeness) won’t produce soul-stirring, hope-filled joy. But when redeemed hearts truly grasp the depths of what Christ accomplished for us, we will revel! And, make no mistake, we will be changed. A brilliant writer and astute theologian, Natalie takes readers to the cross of Calvary, helping us meditate on the miracle of our salvation. One minute her witty prose had me chuckling, and the next her evocative portraits of Christ’s redemptive work had me tearing up. This book moved my heart to worship and increased my joy time and time again. I pray it gets into the hands and hearts of many women. "

- Sarah Rice, Women’s Ministry Director at Capshaw Baptist Church and author of Gospel-Shaped Womanhood.

"If you’ve forgotten the joy of your salvation, From Crimson to White will rekindle your gospel delight by reminding you that Christ alone is your righteousness. This book lifted my eyes to Calvary and moved me to dance in the kitchen over my salvation in Christ. Highly recommend!"

- Hunter Beless, Founder of Journeywomen and host of the Journeywomen podcast

"From Crimson to White is a warming, nourishing feast for the weary soul longing for rest. Natalie fuses theological precision with infectious delight as she leads readers up Calvary’s hill to the unstoppable fountain of love, joy and gospel freedom. She has clearly immersed herself in its waters, and she wants you to drink deeply too. Go on! Dive in . . . and then dance before the Father with abandon!"

- Carolyn Lacey, Bible teacher and author of Amazed: 30 Days of Growing in Awe of God

"Natalie Brand writes with a lovely, warm style that is both accessible and joyful. Her illustrations are illuminating and relatable taking profound theological concepts and grounding them in everyday experience. This book is a great resource for discipleship, giving a wonderful explanation of justification that will truly warm your heart and help you appreciate your identity in Christ. Brand’s sense of humour will have you laughing out loud at times and smiling with joy as she unpacks what she means by ‘Crimson to White.’ It is an easy read that makes deep theological truths beautifully understandable."

A Clear and Steady Reminder of Christ’s Finished Work

This is a book that keeps its focus exactly where it should be—on Christ and His finished work. While it may seem like an Easter read at first glance, it’s far more useful than that. It’s a clear and steady reminder of the core truths of the Christian faith. What I appreciated most was the clarity. Complex theological ideas, especially justification, are explained in a way that is straightforward and faithful to Scripture. There’s no unnecessary complication—just solid, biblical teaching that points consistently back to what Jesus has done. It also avoids being abstract. The illustrations are simple and grounded in everyday life, which helps bring the message home without distracting from it. The overall effect is strengthening. It leaves you with a clearer understanding of your position in Christ and a renewed appreciation that nothing can be added to His work. That’s both humbling and reassuring. This is a book I’d recommend to any Christian who wants a clear, biblical reminder of the gospel and its implications for everyday life.

Such a joy!

“Some of us are so used to hearing the gospel, it’s as though we’ve become inoculated to it. Or worse, we operate under the assumption that it was really God’s obligation to save. If we’re honest, we might even say we’re entitled to salvation.” “Many of us need to grow in our gospel revelry. To glory daily in Christ and his Calvary-victory; every pore of our person praising the Lord for his astounding grace.” Is there a felicity in the world that compares to reading another fantastic book from a favorite author? Natalie Brand calls us to revel in the beautiful joy we have in Christ. Every day the gift of the gospel compels us to dance with abandon and give thanks to God for His grace everlasting love, grace, and mercy. With the warmth of a sister in Christ, Natalie Brand encourages and spurs us on to walk in the joy of our salvation. Her writing is inviting and engaging, with fantastic references to Jane Austen and Tolkien, which are certainly my cup of tea. I think the book would be phenomenal for a small group study, as it includes reflection questions and Scripture at the back corresponding to each chapter. This is a must read! Thank you to the publisher for a complimentary copy of this wonderful book! All opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

Fun, Biblical, Gospel encouragement

I really enjoyed Natalie's style. Winsome and engaging with humorous stories which helped to draw me in as theological topics were opened up. The theology was very rich and strongly based in scripture. I found myself reflecting on some topics in a fresh way, giving me gospel encouragement in my walk with the Lord. The real strength of the book was in the way it took me to the cross where I was able to leave some burdens. I felt lighter after each chapter as I was reminded of our saviours work. Even as a bloke, I would warmly share this with anyone.

A clear, edifying, and Christ-exalting read

This book faithfully unfolds the doctrine of the cross with rich biblical theology, presenting Christ as both the Great High Priest and the spotless Lamb who offers Himself once for all. With vivid and compelling imagery—such as the tearing of Caiaphas’ robes alongside the sufficiency of Christ’s priesthood—it powerfully contrasts the weakness of the old covenant with the finality of Christ’s atoning work. Themes of substitution, propitiation, and the fulfillment of Scripture are handled with precision and reverence. Deeply rooted in Scripture and resonant with Reformed confessional theology, this work is both instructive and devotional. It strengthens the reader’s understanding of Christ’s finished work and stirs a deeper gratitude for the sufficiency of the cross.

From Crimson to White

This is such an important topic and I particularly appreciated the discussion questions at the end. What a joy to have this resource to help chat through such serious and glorious truths with a group, because talking about sin and shame, and holiness and new life in Christ, can be hard!

Highly recommend!

I cannot recommend this book enough! Natalie communicates the truth of what God achieved for us at Calvary in such a refreshing (and pretty mind-blowing!) way. So relatable in her applications that I unashamedly laughed and cried a lot whilst reading. For someone who has grown up in church hearing the gospel thousands of times, this book has given me fresh love for Jesus and renewed joy in my salvation. So much freedom and liberty in knowing Jesus really has paid it all. My sin and shame really has been dealt with at Calvary. His righteousness really is mine!! Hallelujah.

Deep and rich!

It is such a joy to read theology written by women for women. It's able to touch my lived experience in a way that sometimes other books just can't. This book starts with the statement that "more Christians need to dance in their kitchen over their salvation." While I'm not normally the break out into dancing type, I'll admit I tried it out after finishing this book! Natalie does a lovely job marrying deep and rich theology with really accessible and practical examples and stories that bring the truth of the gospel alive to lived experience. While you may not dance in your kitchen (though I recommend it!), this book will surely help you value the beauty of Christ's work on our behalf in deeper ways. It also includes helpful discussion questions and memory verses for each chapter in the back, making it an excellent resource for a group study!

So refreshing!

Natalie Brand writes with a fresh clarity that takes the deepest most wonderful theology and applies it in gentle and powerful way that leaves you praising God for Jesus! I’ve just finished this book and am already flicking back through to re-read and enjoy again the clear and creative application of the Gospel to our real life day to day experiences. I was especially helped by chapter six on being washed, and the final chapter on the slow burn of sanctification is absolutely superb and full of Joy. I’d love to re read this together with others in a small group setting.
