Natalie Brand (Ph.d, Trinity St David) is a writer and Bible teacher. She studied theology in South Wales for many years, and has taught at Union School of Theology, Oak Hill, and London Seminary. She now writes full-time, seeking to spur women to treasure doctrine as they love the Lord their God with all their heart, soul, mind and strength. A must read for ‘weighed-down women’ needing a boost of gospel joy!

Again and again throughout the book, Natalie gives us reasons for true joy as she continually points us to Christ and His finished work. She reminds us that we are covered by His atoning blood and what this means for us as those who are justified by grace alone through faith alone. In chapter 7 we see ourselves as the pilgrim. Natalie encourages us to turn away from trusting in our own works, which Scripture reminds us are but filthy rags compared to the perfect righteousness of Christ. Instead, we are reminded that we are clothed in His spotless robe of righteousness through our union with Him. In Christ alone we find our rest, our acceptance before God, and our sure hope. I especially appreciated how, towards the end of the book, we are called not only to rest in Christ’s righteousness but also to pursue holiness. As those who have been redeemed, we are reminded that sanctification naturally flows from justification, and that as followers of Christ we are to pursue holiness out of gratitude for His grace and by the power of His Spirit. A must read for ‘weighed-down women’ needing a boost of gospel joy!

This book walks you through the gospel with passion, excitement, and vigor. It helped me remember what it actually means to be saved, and it splashed ice-cold water on my tired, dry eyes, awakening me to see the glory that comes from the cross of Christ. Rejoice in the Gospel While written to and for women, even as a man I found Brand’s writing captivating and compelling. I was especially moved by the reminder that our God is quick to clothe. Despite our sin, He dignifies us—He covers and cherishes us. Although refreshing, it is also challenging. Brand asks what excuses we make to justify our sin; she calls us to maturity while reminding us that there is no more condemnation—so go and sin no more. This book will reinvigorate your faith and leave you rejoicing in the gospel. I received a media copy of From Crimson to White and this is my honest review. @diveindigdeep

Such a joy!

With the warmth of a sister in Christ, Natalie Brand encourages and spurs us on to walk in the joy of our salvation. Her writing is inviting and engaging, with fantastic references to Jane Austen and Tolkien, which are certainly my cup of tea. I think the book would be phenomenal for a small group study, as it includes reflection questions and Scripture at the back corresponding to each chapter. This is a must read! Fun, Biblical, Gospel encouragement

I really enjoyed Natalie's style. Winsome and engaging with humorous stories which helped to draw me in as theological topics were opened up. The theology was very rich and strongly based in scripture. I found myself reflecting on some topics in a fresh way, giving me gospel encouragement in my walk with the Lord. The real strength of the book was in the way it took me to the cross where I was able to leave some burdens. I felt lighter after each chapter as I was reminded of our saviours work. Even as a bloke, I would warmly share this with anyone.

I cannot recommend this book enough! Natalie communicates the truth of what God achieved for us at Calvary in such a refreshing (and pretty mind-blowing!) way. So relatable in her applications that I unashamedly laughed and cried a lot whilst reading. For someone who has grown up in church hearing the gospel thousands of times, this book has given me fresh love for Jesus and renewed joy in my salvation. So much freedom and liberty in knowing Jesus really has paid it all. My sin and shame really has been dealt with at Calvary. His righteousness really is mine!! Hallelujah.

Deep and rich!

It is such a joy to read theology written by women for women. It's able to touch my lived experience in a way that sometimes other books just can't. This book starts with the statement that "more Christians need to dance in their kitchen over their salvation." While I'm not normally the break out into dancing type, I'll admit I tried it out after finishing this book! Natalie does a lovely job marrying deep and rich theology with really accessible and practical examples and stories that bring the truth of the gospel alive to lived experience. While you may not dance in your kitchen (though I recommend it!), this book will surely help you value the beauty of Christ's work on our behalf in deeper ways. It also includes helpful discussion questions and memory verses for each chapter in the back, making it an excellent resource for a group study!
