"What we believe about God is the single most important thing about us." This is a call to all Christians-but especially to Christian women-to engage more deeply in the joys of theology. Priscilla was a woman of sound doctrine who wasn't afraid to share what she knew with others. And this is the privilege of every believing woman: we can explore truth and revel in God's mysteries; we can live as God intended, with real spiritual strength and heartfelt praise. And we too will want to share our discoveries with others.

Adorning the Gospel: Theology for Everyday Faith

The title of this book intrigued me, and Priscilla, Where Are You? is both thought-provoking and encouraging. While it doesn’t dive deeply into complex theology, it highlights how essential theology is for women just as much as for men, and how vital it is for our walk with Christ. The author doesn’t take a firm stance on whether women should preach from the pulpit—she encourages readers to study that for themselves—but she emphasizes the importance of knowing God’s truth and handling it wisely. What stood out most is her encouragement for women to embrace their role in God’s kingdom, even outside formal leadership. She highlights historical figures, including some “dead guys” like Martin Luther, alongside faithful women such as Katharina von Bora, demonstrating how quiet, faithful lives can leave a lasting impact on God’s kingdom. Brand also underscores that our actions can “adorn the gospel” (Titus 2:10), making it attractive and compelling to others. Theology, she reminds us, is not just academic—it drives worship, prayer, and godly living. As she quotes John Piper: “Wimpy theology makes wimpy women.” Ultimately, Priscilla, Where Are You? is a call for all Christians to engage deeply with God’s Word, live it out authentically, and reflect His truth and beauty in everyday life.
