Editor Brandon D. Smith envisions The Trinity in the Canon in three parts: the first part contains chapters on history and methodology; the second part surveys large portions of Scripture to develop a biblical portrait of the Trinity; and the final part of this volume explores Trinitarian theology's place in the church and her mission.
Smith desires for readers to see that trinitarian theology does not stay in the realm of interpretation. Trinitarian orthodoxy (right doctrine) produces trinitarian orthopraxy (right practice). The Trinity in the Canon is an appeal to incorporating the Trinity in the way we preach, the way we do liturgy and worship, and the ways we interact with those outside the church.
