Practical Guidance for Loving Others Well

Everyone needs help from time to time, especially in the midst of painful circumstances and difficult trials. In this short book, a highly respected biblical counselor and successful author offers practical guidance for all Christians—pastors and laypeople alike—who want to develop their “helping skills” when it comes to walking alongside hurting people.

Written out of the conviction that friends are the best helpers, this accessible introduction to biblical counseling will equip believers to share their burdens with one another through gentle words of wisdom and kind acts of love. This book is written for those eager to see God use ordinary relationships and conversations between ordinary Christians to work extraordinary miracles in the lives of his people.

Outstanding, pastoral read

I love the way in which Welch first addresses our need for help before equipping us to help others. He walks us through the way in which we come before our compassionate God, how we can reach out to our fellow believers and only then does he suggest that we might offer help to others. He writes with gentle but direct pastoral wisdom that is grounded in reality and brings God's word into the nitty gritty of life. I suggested that our whole Women's Bible Study read it so that we might love one another better as a result.

Revolutionary read on counseling others

This book will change the way you walk alongside friends for the better. 'Side by Side' is filled to the brim with pastoral insight on how to thoughtfully and rightly love and minister to others who are struggling while also highlighting the importance of seeking help from fellow Christians ourselves. If you're looking for applicable wisdom for caring for someone you love, you will find it in this book.
