How to Give All You Want for Christmas

We are thrilled about the release of David's Platt new book, All You Want for Christmas. This short yet powerful book gives an encouraging Gospel reminder to believers, but was specifically written with non-believers in mind. It shares the true meaning of Christmas by explaining four reasons why Jesus came:

  • To be with you

  • To die instead of you

  • To show you how to live

  • To be your servant

How could you use this book this Christmas? Here's some ideas!

  1. Pray and ask God who in your life needs this message. As Jesus said, "the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few" (Matthew 9:37). So pray and ask God how you might join him in this work! Think about individuals in your life that do not have a relationship with Jesus. Is it family members, neighbors, that waitress you regularly see at your favorite restaurant, the barista that serves you your coffee each day, or that workout buddy at the gym?

  2. Read it yourself! Before you gift someone a book, it's always a good idea to read it yourself. This will help encourage your own faith as you soak in the gospel message and give you a way to gift it by saying, "I really enjoyed this book and I think you would to."

  3. Give it as a gift! This hardback book is short, at just 96 pages, with colorful pages and engaging words. It's not your typical "giveaway" book to be passed out in the hundreds and thousands, but designed with care to be gifted to individuals you know and want to see know Jesus. So how could you give it away?

Buy them a copy of this book and wrap it up with cozy book reading supplies whether that be tea, hot chocolate, a blanket, warm socks - anything!

As you give them your gift, be open to share the contents of the book and be willing to answer questions about the greatest gift of Christmas - Jesus!

  4. Read it with a friend! Maybe there is someone in your life that you deeply desire to know Jesus. Is it that neighbor you've lived next to for years, the coworker you have lunch with, or a friend on a sports team? Buy a book for you and them, and offer to read it with them. Just wait for the great discussions you will have about who Jesus is and why He came this Christmas!

  5. Sponsor your church using it as a giveaway. Perhaps you could buy several copies to have on hand at your church so that others could take one to gift to their friends and family or so pastoral staff could have a copy readily available to gift to anyone that visits your church this Christmas season?

  6. Don't forget to follow up. Regardless of how you gift the book this year, follow up with the people you give it to! Ask them what they enjoyed about it or invite them to sit with you at your Christmas services. Water the seeds of the gospel that are planted and watch, wait, and pray as God does the work!

This Christmas, think of who you can intentionally and personally share the Gospel with through this book. May this Christmas be the Christmas that they come to know Jesus as their Savior, and get all they want for Christmas - forgiveness, joy, and a relationship with their Savior!
